EFC San Fernando Valley celebrating 30 years

EFC Churches Winter Retreat 2011

Each year, the English ministries of the southern California Evangelical Formosan Churches put on a retreat at Pine Summit Christian Camps for four days and three nights over the Christmas break.

Come worship, fellowship, and grow! Attendance is usually over 400 campers, so you’ll meet many young adults, college, high schoolers and junior highers from other churches!

This year’s retreat will be held from Wednesday, December 28 – Saturday, December 31.

Registration is now open! Please visit: http://www.efcchurches.org/wr/2011/index.html

Carol Sun’s Surprise Bon Voyage Party

On Saturday, September 10th, we threw a surprise Bon Voyage Party for Carol Sun – a long time leader and member of EFC-SFV, AEM board member, a respected individual from all EFC Churches, and we’re sure tons of other roles may come to mind (hehe). Carol will be embarking on a journey that starts in Hong Kong for a brief period and then off to Singapore in which she will start her awesome new job at Disney (Digital Media). We are so happy for her and we look forward to seeing what God has planned for her!

WE’LL MISS YOU, CAROL!

Here are some photos from Saturday’s event along with some group photos from her last Sunday Service on September 11, 2011.

Gotta have the goofy shot! =)

Special thanks to Wen-Yu Chou for planning, organizing, and editing the goodbye video messages, Henry Wang for his technical support; Shanahan Yang for opening his house for this event (and many past/future BBQs); Alaine Bagamaspad for photography; and everyone else who was able to come.

VBS 2011 – Things Hidden

Have you ever looked at a Magic Eye picture? The page is covered with repeated designs which are very apparent to any viewer. But those who have to see in a new way can see a three-dimensional hidden picture. Many people never see the hidden picture. They only see the surface picture and never really understand that there is a more beautiful picture within the easily seen picture.

We can say the same for Jesus’ parables.

Beyond the mere words of the parables are deep, hidden spiritual truths – truths like the Kingdom of God is a treasure worth more than all we have. The parables of Jesus were earthly stories with hidden meanings about the Kingdom of god. Come and discover some of them through “Things Hidden” at our Vacation Bible School!
